The power of intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence.
By Imke Odendahl
According to Howard Gardner, there is intra- as well as interpersonal intelligence.
Interpersonal intelligence is based on a core capacity to notice distinctions among other people, particularly regarding their moods, temperaments, motivations, and intentions. In more advanced forms, this intelligence allows a skilled individual to understand others’ desires and intentions, even when they are hidden.
Intrapersonal intelligence, on the other hand, enables a person to understand and work with themselves, gaining access to their own emotional life, recognizing and naming a variety of emotions, and using them to understand and guide their own behavior.
These two types of social intelligence complement each other: one focuses on understanding others, while the other focuses on self-knowledge. Both are essential for building harmonious relationships and for personal development.

At Human Logic Academy, we work intensively on both dimensions. We delve into self-knowledge, which requires intrapersonal intelligence as well as into social versatility, which requires interpersonal intelligence. The foundation of our training- and coaching initiatives is a questionnaire that identifies each participant’s unique combination of behavior style and social versatility.
To achieve meaningful results, self-assessment alone is not sufficient. Therefore, we also rely on feedback from six peer raters chosen by the participant, who will assess the participant’s behavior traits. Based on these observations, we generate a detailed report that serves as the starting point for a journey into deeper exploration of both intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence. This methodology provides a comprehensive and well-founded perspective, enabling real and applicable development in daily life.
